Good news for all Meraki users. You can now deploy VPP Apps via Managed distribution. This means that any apps you already have (you need to convert them to managed distribution first) or any new apps you buy via the Volume Purchasing Program you can now distribute to your Meraki managed iPads. Not bad for a free MDM solution!
With lots of talk about the new Computing Curriculum in the UK here’s an interesting article from the TES.
Interesting video giving a brief overview of the new features in this free windows 8 upgrade. Enjoy.
i’ll believe this when I see it! However by Oct 2014 I think we’ll have decided just like many other schools and businesses to go the Windows Tablet route anyway.
Very interesting news this morning about Evernote being hacked. This is happening more and more often yet we are still moving ourselves into the cloud and trusting these companies with a lot of sensitive data. What should they be doing to prevent this and keep us safe and secure from these hackers? Or what can we do to protect ourselves? Interesting times ahead in this area I think.
I was browsing around the Internet today and found this little blog. I thought I’d share it as it made me think about our next steps.
ESSA Academy on BBC News
Interesting report from the BBC on ESSA Academy. I actually met some pupils from here back in October at an Apple Conference. One of the management team spoke to us about their experience. It was very interesting how they have changed the school. For example they no longer have interactive whiteboards. They did however have a lot of money given to them from the government as they also had a brand new school. This would never be achievable in a school unless parents paid towards the costs. They also said they are looking to replace them on a rolling program every 2 and half years at a cost of over £120,000 a year. That doesn’t include all the extra stuff like app costs and other hardware.
Interestingly they never spoke about any issues they had. Does this mean they didn’t have any? Well when talking to the pupils they said the school where making a lot changes to the iPad to ensure they are fully monitored. I guess this is due to events that have happened with the iPads being used to browse inappropriate sites etc. Maybe that shouldn’t have been mentioned.
On a plus side the pupils engagement and results have gone through the roof with the school going from a failing school to one of the best in the area in just a few years.
Is this the future?
